Marcellus Shale Field Tour Scheduled for Friday, April 16

The Marcellus Center for Outreach and Research is offering Penn State researchers an opportunity to learn firsthand about the technical operations of natural gas production as well as the economic, environmental and community impacts of Marcellus Shale development during a day-long field trip to a Northern Tier county.

Tentatively scheduled are:

A tour of a drilling rig, pipeline and water withdrawal site with explanation of drilling basics and operations;
A tour of the area to see the impacts of Marcellus Shale development;
Discussions with key community members regarding business, agricultural, environmental and social impacts related to Marcellus Shale development.

The field tour will run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Transportation and lunch will be provided. Cost is $25/person.
