Hydrogeologist Joins Marcellus Center for Outreach and Research

David Yoxtheimer, P.G., a Penn State alumnus with 18 years of hydrogeologic consulting experience, has joined the Marcellus Center for Outreach and Research as an Extension Associate in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS) effective July 15.

In his new position, Yoxtheimer will investigate water-treatment, water-quality, and environmental issues related to natural resource development and specifically to the Marcellus shale. He will act as an outreach liaison between the University, natural gas industry, environmental organizations, local government and the general public to advise stakeholders on key environmental issues.

A registered professional geologist (P.G.) in Pennsylvania, Yoxtheimer previously served as Director of Operations/Senior Hydrogeologist with ARM Oil & Gas Solutions, a division of Hershey-based Arm Group Inc., a firm specializing in earth-resource consulting. In that position, he had responsibility for managing multiple water supply, environmental, and permitting projects related to Marcellus natural gas. In addition, his career has included extensive remediation, water supply development and wellhead protection experience.

He is also currently completing his Ph.D. in Geosciences at Penn State.
